About Queen City Sound Chorus

Queen City Sound Chorus is a membership organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, learn to improve our vocals skills, perform, and have fun.  If you love to sing, You Are Invited to come listen to a rehearsal!  Formal training is not required.

 

We were chartered on December 13, 2005, and in our short history have worked hard, listened to our coaches, and as a result have not only medaled in every annual regional competition, but have also been twice invited to the Harmony Classic International competition for small choruses, first in San Antonio in 2008, and again in Seattle in 2010, where we won the coveted First Place in Division A, the Worldwide small chorus competition!

 

 We currently have over 20 singers of all ages, all walks of life, and from all parts of the Springfield area plus our dedicated "far-away" members from Kansas, Arkansas, Arizona, Nevada, and California.

 

Performance

Queen City Sound is dedicated to musical excellence by continually honing our vocal skills. We perform and compete in annual competitions, shows and special events.  We are available to sing for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and holiday events.  If you're looking for a unique musical experience for your next occasion, please click on the Hire Us section.

Education

In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a cappella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience.  A few times a year, we receive coaching from a visiting masters in the art of barbershop.

CompetitionIn the spring of every year, Queen City Sound Chorus participates in the Region 25 chorus competition in Dallas, Texas. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other, and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories get to travel to International Competition, which is held in the fall in a city selected each year. Quartets

Most choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus.  Queen City Sound Chorus currently is home to Mellowtones quartet, and Glitz.  We are very proud of them!  Click here to see our quartet section to learn more about them.

 

Affiliation

Queen City Sound Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines, International, a non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
